Superheroes: Why they have increased in popularity in recent years
They help us cope with adversity and lack of power
Superheroes are a popular topic in society today. Children and adults love them alike. Superheroes have been around for centuries but have become more prevalent recently. This is because they are a symbol of hope and inspiration. Superheroes represent what is possible in life. They show us that we can get through adversity and be decisive when we feel powerless over world difficulties.
The pandemic, dictators, and the fear of nuclear war have increased a sense of hopelessness in the world. These situations created a need for more mental health services because people have become more depressed and anxious. To feel motivated and continue to pursue our purposes, we need to feel a sense of hope and control.
Superheroes have become increasingly popular because they are larger-than-life characters who have overcome great odds to save the day. People can identify with these characters and see they, too, have the power to get through adverse situations.
They bridge the gap between what is and what could be and have helped us:
1. To reach our potential
2. They help us confront our fears
