Trauma is a complex subject to talk about

Trauma is a complex and sensitive subject that people often want to keep to themselves. Some people push trauma away and feel they won't have to think about it anymore. However, most traumatic experiences remain dormant. Years later, triggers can bring back old traumas. People can suffer symptoms they believe have come out of the blue.

What is a Trauma Trigger

Unfortunately, people can function reasonably well with avoided trauma for a while. However, they can become vulnerable to Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and quickly respond to triggers. A trigger is an experience or situation that unconsciously raises the trauma in the conscious mind, and the person can experience the unpleasant symptoms of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder.

Symptoms of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder

PTSD can manifest in various ways, and the symptoms can last for months or even years after the traumatic event. Many people with PTSD experience intrusive thoughts, flashbacks, and nightmares of the event. They may constantly feel on edge, have difficulty sleeping, and startle easily.
